The latest aerospace group is callede the Washington Aerospace Partnershipand it’s composed of unionj leaders, business interests and local civid leaders. Its three co-chairs are Rick Bender, president of the Washingto StateLabor Council, Tayloe Washburn, chair of the ; and Bob executive director of the Puget Sound Regional Council. “Our memberw – business owners, labor organizations, civic leaders and citizends across the state have a lot at stakre in what happens to theaerospace industry. The partnership will server as a catalyst to growour state’zs aerospace industry and to create more family-wage jobs for the Washburn said in a statement.
The group said its initial effort will be to provide supportto ’sa effort to build the U.S. Defense Department’sd new air refueling instead of splitting the tanker deal with a group headed by Boeingrival Airbus. That deal could be as much as $35 billioj to the winning tanker builder.
