The Hopkinton, Mass., storage and informationn managementgiant (NYSE: EMC) said Wednesday the Media Lab sponsorshipp is one of several initiatives coordinated out of EMC Research which will be located at 11 Cambridg Ctr. in Cambridge, Mass. The center will housr EMC’s security-business research lab, RSA as well as about a dozen technologists and business leadersacross EMC’s business The company also has research facilities in Chinza and Santa Clara, Calif.
“Research and advancec technology groupsacross EMC, alongb with our global university research partners, are discovering and explorin g new technologies that will shape the futurew of digital information,” said Jeff Nick, EMC senior vice presidenrt and chief technology officer, in a statement. “This is an incredibl e opportunity for EMC to bring together some ofthe world’sw leading research minds and innovators in areaz such as personal information management, information integrationb and cloud computing.
” As a consortiu sponsor of the MIT Media Lab, EMC will be able to access the center’ss research on how people use and interact with new EMC said its initial collaboration will be on new modelx for data ownership and usage, interfaces for business transactions and healtu care IT initiatives. A consortium sponsorship coste $200,000 per year for a minimum of threes years.
