The building, under construction at 550 S. Tryon St., was originallgy to be known as the Wachovia Corporate Center and servwe as the new headquarters of Wachovia Those plans changed afterSan Francisco-basede bought Wachovia at the end of 2008. The towere has since been renamed the DukeEnergy “In light of the change in ownershipo of Wachovia and changes in the bank’se plans, we have decided to explore othet options,” says Steve Reinemund, dean of businessa at Wake Forest. Reinemund didn’t elaborate on why the change in ownership alterecdthe school’s plans. Wake Forest says it is seekint atleast 25,000 square feet for its base of operation in Charlotte.
The facility will house graduatse business classes as well as outreach programz to the Charlottebusiness community, alumni activities and faculty research. “The university is committed to continuing to grow its businessz programs in the Charlotte and we are excitedx that these plans will also enabl e us to better serve our Reinemund says.
